Google Launches HTTPS Support for Blogspot

Posted by Asheesh
Over the year we are using Blogger platform to present our ideas and it is the most important tool for blogger. Google has made its Search, Gmail, Drive, and many other products having encrypted connections by default but Blogger has not got this support.

Now Google has launched HTTPS support to its blogging platform. In a new release Google has announce it. Here are the words from Google Blog:

"In this same vein, today we're expanding on the HTTPS Everywhere mission and beginning an initial rollout of HTTPS support for Blogspot. HTTPS is a cornerstone of internet security as it provides several important benefits: it makes it harder for bad actors to steal information or track the activities of blog authors and visitors, it helps check that visitors open the correct website and aren’t being redirected to a malicious location, and it helps detect if a bad actor tries to change any data sent from Blogger to a blog visitor. "

Once enabled, your blog will become accessible over both HTTP and HTTPS connections. Blogspot authors should be aware that if they choose to encrypt at this time, some of the current functionality of their blog may not work over HTTPS. This can be a result of template, gadgets, and blog post content, and is often caused by mixed content errors, some of which may be fixable by the author themselves.

We’ll also be moving some of our own blogs over to HTTPS gradually, beginning with the Official Google Blog and the Google Online Security Blog.

For the Blogspot authors who try this out - we’re interested to hear your feedback while we continue to improve this feature and its capabilities! For more information, visit our Help Center.

Don't Expect to Increase Your Google Toolbar PageRank

Posted by Asheesh

In October 2013, Google head of search spam Matt Cutts implied we would likely not see another Google Toolbar PageRank update before the year end. Well, by accident, Google updated Toolbar PageRank in December 2013. Since then, we have had no Toolbar PageRank updates.

Google’s John Mueller said in a Google Webmaster Hangout video that there will probably not be another Toolbar PageRank update ever. John said:

We will probably not going to be updating it [PageRank] going forward, at least in the Toolbar PageRank.

He said this at the 20:30 mark in the video. Here is an embed of the video if you want to hear it yourself:

Google Changed its Logo - A Turning Point in Company's History

Posted by Asheesh

Many could argue that the Google logo changes everyday, and partly that is true, but the main icon hasn't changed all that much since 1999. However, that is all about to change...

The Google logo is one of the most recognizable in the world, albeit the logo might not have changed a lot in recent years but the expansion in Google products and services certainly has been noticeable. Now, the world's most used online search browser has changed its logo significantly, in order to fit in with Google's other features.

Google has released an official statement on their official blog, presenting the ideas that have brought about their recent change of branding.

The statement reads: "Google has changed a lot over the past 17 years—from the range of our products to the evolution of their look and feel. And today we’re changing things up once again:

"So why are we doing this now? Once upon a time, Google was one destination that you reached from one device: a desktop PC. These days, people interact with Google products across many different platforms, apps and devices—sometimes all in a single day. You expect Google to help you whenever and wherever you need it, whether it’s on your mobile phone, TV, watch, the dashboard in your car, and yes, even a desktop!"
