There are many on page factors that must be done correctly to optimize your website.  When done correctly Search Engine Optimization will help you increase visibility on search engines.  By optimizing your site, the results will be incredible over time. In this post, I will discuss the various ways to optimize your post using on page factors for SEO.

#1.  Set A Minimum Word Count

Setting a minimum word count is important because Google does count it as a negative factor if it’s to short.  Understanding Google’s guidelines is crucial when creating a post and optimizing it the right way. Google believes if the article is fewer than 300 words is not quality work.  Any article that is 300 words or less is not written in depth which equates no value to the topic discuss.  Google tends to ignore shorter length articles.  I personally try to write post with at least 500 words or more.

 #2. Focus Keyword

The focus keyword is the main topic of your post.  The post should only consist of one topic and not multiples topics.  The post will be more appealing not only to search engines but to the human eye.  Can you image reading a post that talk about multiple topics in one post? It will confuse the reader and also be penalized by Google since the post does not hold any value.

 #3 Meta Description

The Meta Description tag lets your audience know what the post is all about and if it contains the information they are searching for.  The Meta Description should employ the description of the post using the focus keyword and make it compelling for the visitor to click on the link.  The Meta Description should be well thought before just writing anything.  What are you going to say to convince someone to click on your listing versus choosing from the others? The more compelling your description, the greater chance to increase click through which has an effect on the SERPS.  The Meta Description will not affect your search engine rankings but it does impact the SERPS. The Meta Description should be anywhere between 150-160 characters long.

#4 Focus Keyword Place In The Beginning Of The Post

The focus keyword should be place in the beginning of the post. I personally try to include my focus keyword within the first couple of sentences in the 1st paragraph.  Avoid stuffing keywords in attempt to manipulate your ranking because Google will take notice and penalize your site. The focus keyword should be added in the first few sentences because search engines use it as a description in the search results.

 #5 Keyword Density

Keyword density measures the percentage of times a phrase or keyword appears on a post compare to the total number of words.  The keywords you have chosen should be sprinkle through out the post.

#6 The Images Contain Alt Tags

All images should contain alt tags with the targeted keyword or phrase. By optimizing your images it will increase your traffic flow when someone searches for an image in the search engine.  The alt tag gives a description of the image. Why not take the time to optimize your images and improve your SEO?

 #7 Keywords Appear In Subheadings

The keyword appearing in subheading is not a major ranking factor but its beneficial for SEO results. The focus keyword should appear in the headings because it helps the search engines understand what the page is all about. The headings are a crucial part of SEO. The heading and subheading consists of H1 to H6. The heading H1 is the most important. The focus keyword should be on H1 or H2.

#8 The Focus Keyword Appears In The URL

The focus keyword should appear in the URL of the post.  The keyword appearing in the URL essentially describes what the page is all about.

#9 The Post Has 1 Outbound Link

The post must have at least 1 outbound link.  The search engines favor websites that have outbound links because they are providing value to the visitor by providing resources they can use.
By following this on page factors will help you increase your SEO results.
